History

Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates was founded in 1985.  Mr. McIntyre saw that people who had been convicted of misdemeanors and felonies needed attorneys who were devoted exclusively to the field of postconviction representation. Mr. McIntyre and his team possess expertise that helps them evaluate postconviction options available to those convicted of both state and federal crimes.

Michael Kennedy McIntyre, Esq.

Mr. McIntyre graduated in 1975 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1979. Mr. McIntyre worked as an Assistant Federal Defender with the Federal Defender Program, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia from 1980 to 1984. Since 1985, Mr. McIntyre has been in private practice and has been practicing postconviction criminal defense in Atlanta and the state of Georgia for over thirty years. Mr. McIntyre is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation.

Marla Blackmon - Parole Specialist

Ms. Marla J. Blackmon graduated from Gordon Junior College with an Associate of Arts degree.  She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tift College. Ms. Blackmon started her career with the Georgia Department of Corrections. After five years with the Georgia Department of Corrections, she accepted a position with the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles. During Ms. Blackmon’s twenty-four years at the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, she held the positions of Parole Officer, Hearing Examiner/Criminal Investigator, and Assistant Director of Guidelines/Appeals Officer. Ms. Blackmon retired from the Parole Board in April 2012 and joined the Firm in May 2012.

 
 

 

Erica Sessions - Office Manager

Ms. Sessions graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. She has been working with Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates since 2001. Ms. Sessions currently serves as the firm's office manager and is in charge of consultations with prospective clients and their families. She is also responsible for all accounts payable and receivable.
