Parole Consultation Day Appointments

McIntyre & Associates practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation including representation before the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles (“the Georgia Parole Board”). We have determined that there are circumstances where representation before the Georgia Parole Board may not be necessary and where an offender’s family member or friend may simply need information or advice with respect to parole issues. For this reason, McIntyre & Associates offers a Parole Consultation Day once each month to give an offender’s family member or friend an opportunity to discuss parole issues that pertain to the offender.

The Parole Consultation Day is conducted by Mr. Milton “Buddy” Nix, Jr. and Ms. Victoria Smith. Mr. Nix is employed with McIntyre & Associates as a Parole and Postconviction Consultant. Mr. Nix served as a Board Member on the Georgia Parole Board from 2002-2009, serving in the role of Chairman of the Georgia Parole Board from 2002-2006. Ms. Smith is an attorney who has been with McIntyre & Associates for eleven years, practicing exclusively in the field of postconviction representation, primarily with respect to parole issues. Clearly, no other law firm in Atlanta or the entire State of Georgia is better positioned than McIntyre & Associates to provide information or advice about parole issues.

For a flat rate, Mr. Nix and Ms. Smith will meet on a Parole Consultation Day with an offender’s family member or friend for one hour to provide information and advice concerning the offender’s parole status. Prior to the Parole Consultation Day meeting, Mr. Nix and Ms. Smith will review a client questionnaire that will have been filled out by the family member or friend as well as certain other documents provided to them by the family member or friend. During the meeting, Mr. Nix and Ms. Smith will provide information and advice concerning the offender’s parole status, will answer questions that the family member or friend might have about parole, and will offer advice as to how the family member or friend can best assist the offender with respect to the Georgia Parole Board. Also, if requested to do so, they can advise the family member or friend as to what McIntyre & Associates would do to assist the offender if retained to represent the offender.

Arrangements also can be made for Mr. Nix and Ms. Smith to conduct this consultation directly with a convicted offender at the offender’s prison, with the travel time and costs being charged in addition to the consultation itself.
