Michael Kennedy McIntyre, Esq.Mr. McIntyre graduated in 1975 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 1979. Mr. McIntyre worked as an Assistant Federal Defender with the Federal Defender Program, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia from 1980 to 1984. Since 1985, Mr. McIntyre has been in private practice and has been practicing postconviction criminal defense in Atlanta and the state of Georgia for over thirty years. Mr. McIntyre is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation Palmer Singleton, Esq.Mr. Singleton graduated in 1981 from New York University College of Law. He was then a Prettyman Fellow at the Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Singleton served as a staff attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta for twenty-two years, representing capital defendants at trial and during postconviction proceedings. In addition to his work with the Southern Center for Human Rights, Mr. Singleton has taught courses on criminal procedure and capital punishment at Georgia State University’s College of Law and at Emory University’s School of Law. Mr. Singleton is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and Washington D.C. He practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation, including Georgia petitions for writ of habeas corpus. Mr. Singleton joined the firm in 2006. H. Victoria Smith, Esq.Ms. Smith graduated cum laude in 1994 from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She received her Master of Arts in General Experimental Psychology from Wake Forest University in 1996 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee in 1999. Ms. Smith is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the South Carolina Bar. Ms. Smith has been an associate attorney with Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates since 1999, and has been practicing postconviction criminal defense in Atlanta and the state of Georgia since that time. She practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation, primarily representing clients before the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles. Robert McGlasson, Esq.Mr. McGlasson received his Juris Doctor from the Yale School of Law in 1981. He became a law clerk to the Honorable Elbert P. Tuttle, Circuit Judge of the United States Court Of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. McGlasson worked as a staff attorney at the South Prisoners’ Defense Committee and later founded the Texas Resource Center in Austin, which was the first and only death penalty appeals litigation office in Texas. Mr. McGlasson has served as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Texas Law School and as a staff attorney with the Federal Defender Program, Inc. Mr. McGlasson is a member of the State Bars of Georgia, Texas and Florida. He practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation, including the litigation of petitions for writ of habeas corpus in the state of Georgia. Mr. McGlasson has been working with the firm since 2006. Susan C. Casey, Esq.Ms. Casey graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1995. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Psychology from Emory University (1984), and a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (1991). Before attending law school, Ms. Casey worked in the Human Rights Program at The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a staff attorney with the Federal Defender Program, Inc., in Chicago, Illinois from 1995 to 2000, and a staff attorney in the capital habeas corpus unit of the Federal Defender Program, Inc., in Atlanta from 2000 to 2007. Ms. Casey is a member of the bar in Georgia and Illinois. She practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation, including Georgia petitions for writ of habeas corpus. Ms. Casey joined the firm in 2007. Jessica A. Lexmond, Esq.Ms. Lexmond graduated cum laude in 2005 from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. She received her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 2008, and has always been interested in practicing as a criminal defense appellate attorney in Georgia. While attending Emory University School of Law, Ms. Lexmond interned at McIntyre & Associates, as well as various agencies throughout Atlanta, including the Federal Defender Program, Inc. and the Office of the Georgia Capital Defender, in order to learn about the process of Georgia appeals, and the work performed by Georgia appellate attorneys. Ms. Lexmond is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. She has been working with Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates since 2007, and has been an associate attorney since 2008. She practices exclusively in the field of postconviction representation. Milton "Buddy" Nix, Jr. (Parole and Postconviction Consultant)Mr. Nix graduated from the University of Georgia and served six years as a Special Agent of the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI). In 1970, he began his career with the FBI, serving twenty-three years as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent. Mr. Nix was appointed Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 1993, a position which he held for nine years. In June 2002, Mr. Nix was appointed to the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles, where he immediately was elected Chairman. Mr. Nix served as Chairman until 2006 and remained on the Georgia Parole Board as a Board Member until December 31, 2009. In February 2010, Mr. Nix joined the firm as a Postconviction Consultant. On March 24, 2010, the Georgia House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing and commending Mr. Nix, which can be viewed here. Erica Sessions (Office Manager)Ms. Sessions graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing. She has been working with Michael Kennedy McIntyre & Associates since 2001. Ms. Sessions serves as the firm's office manager and is in charge of consultations with prospective clients and their families. She is also responsible for all accounts payable and receivable. |
